A Day in the Life of a Medical Student

Abstract

I looked up the origins of the word ‘doctor’ the other day. I’ve spent the last 4 and a half years studying towards earning that title and it dawned on me that I didn’t know the root meaning of the word itself. It startled me to find that “doctor” derives directly from the Latin word doc?re, meaning to teach. Teacher, not healer, or anything medically suggestive, but simply teacher.
